Everett man putting cover over his car hit, killed by another vehicle; driver arrested

EVERETT – A woman has been arrested on probable cause of vehicular homicide after a fatal collision in Everett, police said Thursday.

At 9 p.m. Thursday, police officers responded to a report of a Jeep that drove into a house in the 3800 block of Grand Avenue. Officers found a man in his 50s who had been struck by the Jeep before it veered off the roadway. CPR was initiated and Everett Fire also responded but the man succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene, police said.

The driver of the Jeep, a woman in her 30s, remained at the scene and was arrested for vehicular homicide, police said.

Traffic Safety detectives believe the man was covering his car before the snow started when he was struck by the northbound Jeep. A second vehicle was hit before the Jeep veered into a yard and stopped as it crashed into a porch, police said.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine cause and manner of death as well as identity.
