Thousands running in annual Seattle Marathon



SEATTLE -- Fifteen thousand people hit the streets Sunday morning for a quick jog through downtown Seattle.

The 46th annual Seattle marathon kicked off just after 7 a.m.

The half marathon runners and walkers hit the course first, followed by the full marathon runners at 8:15 a.m.

The Marathon began back in 1970 with 38 participants, Sunday this year, 15 thousand people registered for the event.

Ryan Anke ran the half marathon carrying the American flag.

“To honor our brave men and women of our armed forces. Those who have served and currently serving overseas,” said Anke.

Runners started in front of the Museum of Pop Culture and finished at Memorial Stadium.
