COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — The Seattle Sounders FC are headed to the MLS Cup final for the first time ever.
The Sounders defeated the Colorado Rapids 1-0 in leg two of the Western Conference finals (with a 3-1 goal aggregate win).
Jordan Morris scored in the 56′ off of a short pass from Nelson Valdez. Colorado’s keeper slid into Morris injuring the forward’s knee, but Morris returned to the game just minutes later.
On Tuesday night in the first leg, Nicolas Lodeiro scored on a penalty kick in the 61st minute and the Seattle Sounders beat the Colorado Rapids 2-1.
Lodeiro caused issues all over the field for Colorado before drawing the penalty 15 minutes into the second half. A deflected ball rolled to Lodeiro in the penalty area and he was taken down by Marc Burch. Lodeiro sent goalkeeper Zac MacMuth the wrong direction and scored his fourth goal of the playoffs.
