Sounders FC advances to MLS Cup final for first time after defeating Rapids 1-0

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. -- The Seattle Sounders FC are headed to the MLS Cup final for the first time ever.

The Sounders defeated the Colorado Rapids 1-0 in leg two of the Western Conference finals (with a 3-1 goal aggregate win).

Jordan Morris scored in the 56' off of a short pass from Nelson Valdez. Colorado's keeper slid into Morris injuring the forward's knee, but Morris returned to the game just minutes later.

On Tuesday night in the first leg, Nicolas Lodeiro scored on a penalty kick in the 61st minute and the Seattle Sounders beat the Colorado Rapids 2-1.

Lodeiro caused issues all over the field for Colorado before drawing the penalty 15 minutes into the second half. A deflected ball rolled to Lodeiro in the penalty area and he was taken down by Marc Burch. Lodeiro sent goalkeeper Zac MacMuth the wrong direction and scored his fourth goal of the playoffs.

The Sounders will play Toronto or Montreal for the league title on Saturday, Dec. 10 on Q13 FOX!

Toronto hosts Montreal in the second leg of the Eastern final Wednesday night. The Impact won the first leg 3-2 in Montreal.

Where will the MLS Cup final be played? It could be Seattle. It all depends on who wins the MLS Eastern conference on Wednesday.
