2016 Trouble in Toyland list

Before you wrap up gifts for the children in your life, you might want to take a look at the U.S. Public Interest Research Group's (PIRG) list of recalled toys.  The list includes toys and potential gifts recalled between January 2015 and October 2016, for a range of safety concerns.  U.S. PIRG warns that even if a toy has not been recalled, it may not be suitable for children if it has small magnets that can be swallowed, or has small pieces that can be a choking hazard.  Experts recommend using a toilet paper roll to see if a toy is too small for babies and toddlers.  Anything that fits easily through the roll could become dangerous if a child puts it in his or her mouth.

The U.S. PIRG's 2016 Trouble in Toyland list is items that have already been recalled and taken off store shelves, but may still be available from sellers online.  The U.S. PIRG warns you may also be able to find them at secondhand stores or yard sales.
