Wilson catches TD pass - and Seahawks catching fire

SEATTLE – When Doug Baldwin is throwing touchdown passes to Russell Wilson, it’s safe to say the Seattle Seahawks’ offense is back on track.

Seattle made easy work of the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, rolling to a 26-15 victory at CenturyLink Field highlighted by Baldwin’s 15-yard touchdown pass to Wilson on a trick play in the third quarter.

"Doug threw a really good pass, I’m really proud of him," coach Pete Carroll said after the game. "He’s got a great rating, whatever it is."

The win, combined with losses by both the Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles Rams, gives the Seahawks a commanding three-game lead in the NFC West with six-games to play. If the season ended today, Seattle would be the No. 2 seed in the NFC behind the Dallas Cowboys.

And after perhaps their most complete game of the season, the Seahawks look every bit like a Super Bowl contender  - particularly given that, for the second week in a row, their offense looked stellar.

Rookie C.J. Prosise had another memorable game, gaining 76 yards on only four carries – including a beautiful 72-yard touchdown run in the first quarter – before leaving with an injury. After the game, Carroll said Prosise will be out "for awhile" with a scapula injury, but there's a chance he could return before the end of the season.

Thomas Rawls looked strong in his return as well, picking up 57 yards on 14 carries with a fearless intensity the Seahawks had lacked for much of the season.

Baldwin caught some passes in addition to his memorable throw, hauling in 4 catches for 104 yards.

And, thankfully, the defense returned to form, shutting down Carson Wentz and allowing 308 yards total.

The Seahawks travel to Tampa Bay next weekend, where they’ll play the Buccaneers (5-5) at 1:05 p.m. Sunday.

"It's a long haul, and hopefully we're turning the corner at the right time," Carroll said.
