1 1/2-year-old girl found living with parents, other adults in homeless camp in Auburn

AUBURN, Wash.  -- Auburn Police said officers on Wednesday found a 1 1/2-year-old girl living with her parents and two other adults in a makeshift shelter on the side of a hill.

"The officers learned that the father, mother and child had been living in the camp for approximately a month," police said. "The living conditions the child was found in were not safe for a child of that age and she was taken into protective custody."

Auburn Police said the officers took the child to the Multicare Auburn Medical Center, where she was evaluated and found to be in good health. The child was ultimately placed in temporary foster care.

Police said follow-up resources will be provided to the mother and father of the child.

Child Protective Services was familiar with the family and their needs, police said.
