Revenge! Seahawks make goal-line stand to hold off Patriots, 31-24

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – That was certainly satisfying.

The Seattle Seahawks put together a stellar goal-line stand to hold off the New England Patriots on Sunday night - a small measure of sweet revenge for their infamous goal-line flub in Super Bowl XLIX –to hold on to a 31-24 victory at Gillette Stadium.

Even better, the Seahawks’ offense came roaring back to life.

Remember last season, when Russell Wilson and Doug Baldwin were connecting for touchdowns seemingly at will, and the Seahawks just kept winning games?

Sunday night felt a lot like that.

Baldwin scored three touchdowns and rookie running back C.J. Prosise had 153 combined yards as the Seahawks maintained their commanding two-game lead in the NFC West.

"He’s really good," Carroll said after the game. "He’s a really good player."

It felt like an awakening for the Seahawks’ offense, as Wilson finally looked more like the dynamic playmaker he was before suffering a slew of injuries this season, throwing for 348 yards with a 124.6  passer rating.

The Seahawks rang up 420 yards of total offense and finally - finally - won the time-of-possession battle, if only just barely at 30:25.

Up next for the Seahawks are the 5-4 Philadelphia Eagles, who come to town for a 1:25 p.m. game next Sunday.
