Tacoma police searching for shooter after woman shot, killed while driving car

TACOMA — Police are looking for a shooter after a woman was shot and killed while driving her car in Tacoma.

Tacoma police say this happened near S 7th St & S Pine St. 7th was expected to remain closed this morning while detectives take a closer look at her car, a black Lexus.

According to police, the woman was driving slowly down the street around 2:30 a.m. when someone on foot began firing several shots into the back window of the car. At least one bullet hit the driver, identified only as a woman in her 20s.

Police say her car came to a stop further down the street when it ran into a parked car. The woman was taken to the hospital where she later died.

Officers have scoured the area but have not made any arrests.

Investigators are taking a close look at the other cars along the street and looking into the possibility that one of those cars could belong to the suspect.
