Snohomish County election processing center in full swing

MUKILTEO, Wash. – Snohomish County Auditor Carolyn Weikel said voter turnout appears to be similar to races back in 2008.

On Tuesday county employees poured over ballots, scrutinizing signatures and verifying information at the election processing center in Mukilteo.

Weikel said the auditor’s office maintained its focus on security this election year.

“We do have security patrolling the parking lot, so yes this year we had extra concerns,” she said.

County employees had counted more than 250,000 ballots by Tuesday afternoon. Polls will close by 8 p.m., Weikel said that means it’s time for her office kicks into high gear.

“For us, it’s really just the beginning of a long process.”
