Gov. Inslee takes 57-43% lead over Bryant in governor's race in early voting results

SEATTLE -- Gov. Jay Inslee was leading Republican Bill Bryant in the Washington governor's race, initial vote results showed Tuesday night.

The Secretary of State's Office said Inslee had 985,962 votes to Bryant's 7854,944, or 57 to 43%.  Snohomish County still had not reported its election results tot he state by 9:03 p.m.

More vote results will be released Wednesday.

Inslee, a former congressman, is seeking re-election to a second four-year term as governor.

Bryant, a former Port of Seattle commissioner, has called the state government "rudderless" and has said Inslee has not displayed leadership on issues such as homelessness, mental health care and education. Inslee said the state is making progress and points to to billions more in education funding, a robust economy and a $16 billion transportation package negotiated last year with the Legislature.
