Seahawks survive yet another wild Monday Night game, hold off Bills 31-25

SEATTLE – For one game, at least, the Seattle Seahawks’ offense found its mojo.

Russell Wilson and Jimmy Graham paired up on two wild touchdowns as the Seahawks survived one of their typically surreal Monday Night Football games with a 31-25 victory over the Buffalo Bills in front of a record crowd at CenturyLink Field.

Though Seattle’s defense had a notably rough night with much of its starting lineup out with injuries, Wilson completed 20 of 26 passes for 282 yards and two touchdowns and ran for one more, and Graham caught 8 balls for 103 yards in one of his best games as a Seahawk.

The Seahawks were aided greatly by a confusing exchange near the end of the second half, when a field-goal attempt that many thought should have been ruled roughing the kicker on Richard Sherman instead led to Dan Carpenter missing a field goal that altered the tenor of the second half. Because the medical staff had to attend to Carpenter after the hit, he was forced to leave the field for a play.

The Bills spiked the ball to burn a play, but were flagged for delay of game on the ensuing trip to the line of scrimmage and Carpenter then missed his kick.

Buffalo quarterback Tyrod Taylor kept the Seattle defense on its heels, completing 27 passes of 38 passes for 289 yards and one touchdown each passing and rushing, while Bills running back LeSean McCoy carried 21 times for 85 yards.

Seattle (5-2-1) won’t get much time to celebrate, as it prepares to head to New England for a tough game against the Patriots next Sunday.

The Bills had one final shot to win it, but their drive died deep in Seahawks territory with 13 seconds left.
