Juvenile arrested for Renton park shooting that left one person injured

RENTON, Wash. – A juvenile male is in custody after a shooting on Friday night in Tiffany Park that left one injured.

Renton police said the shooting happened just after 7 p.m. in Tiffany Park between the bathrooms and the parking lot. Renton Police said the juvenile male suspect was friends with a younger sibling of the victim, but police were unable to comment further on a possible motive.

When first responders arrived on scene, the victim, an adult male, was cooperative and talking with authorities. The victim has since been transported to Harborview Medical Center,with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

Renton police said the suspect fled the scene after the shooting, but police were able to capture him quickly with the help of K-9 units and a King County Sheriff’s Office Air Support helicopter.

Police said the suspect, who is known to authorities, surrendered without incident.

An investigation is ongoing.
