Detectives search area near Duvall for remains of possible victim of Green River Killer

DUVALL, Wash. -- King County sheriff's detectives searched a wooded area near Duvall Thursday looking for remains of a possible victim of the Green River Killer, who murdered dozens of girls and women in Washington state in the 1980s and '90s.

Nothing was found, the sheriff's office said.

"Detectives said the information about this specific location is not new, but a thorough search of the area had not been done before," the sheriff's news release said.

According to the sheriff's office, when time allows, detectives continue to look at information learned from serial killer Gary Ridgway,  known as the Green River Killer, and conduct searches in areas that have not been searched before.

The wooded area near NE 140th Street and 286 Avenue NE was searched Thursday with the help of cadaver dogs, the office said.
