Deputies searching for 3 armed robbers who pistol-whipped couple in Covington home

COVINGTON, Wash. -- Police in south King County are searching for three armed robbers who broke into a Covington home and pistol-whipped the couple living there, all while two children slept.

Deputies were called around 1:00 a.m. to a neighborhood near 160th Pl SE & SE 258th Pl in Covington.

When the 911 call came in, dispatchers could hear someone yelling "where's the safe?"

King County sheriff's deputies say three intruders kicked in the door to the home and headed straight for the master bedroom. They pistol-whipped the husband while demanding money, deputies said.

All of this happened while the couple's two children, ages 6 and 8, were also inside the home.

When they arrived, the three suspects ran from the home in different directions. One suspect jumped into a car. Deputies say the suspect later crashed the vehicle nearby and got away on foot.

Investigators are now searching for all three suspects. They were wearing masks and hooded jackets. Deputies recovered a rifle and some of the stolen items.

The husband and wife were treated for head injuries. The kids were not injured.
