Police: 7-year-old trick-or-treater hit by SUV, critically injured in Tacoma; driver arrested, possible DUI



TACOMA -- A  SUV hit and critically injured a 7-year-old boy who was trick-or-treating  in Tacoma Monday night, Tacoma police said.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of vehicular assault, Tacoma police officer Loretta Cool said. DUI is suspected, she added.

Cool said the driver was detained a block from the scene by witnesses until police could arrive.

The incident occurred at North 9th and North I St., according to police.



Witnesses said the child's twin brother was distraught on the scene.

No other details were immediately released.
