One hurt in fire at historic home in Seattle's Discovery Park

SEATTLE -- Authorities say one person suffered minor burns in a fire at a home at the former Fort Lawton in Seattle.

The fire was reported Wednesday afternoon at a home that was under renovation in Discovery Park.

Seattle fire officials tweeted that one worker was taken to a hospital with minor burns.

The park was formerly home to Fort Lawton, a U.S. Army outpost established in 1900 to protect the Puget Sound area from a naval attack.

A group of early buildings in the area has been a landmark district since 1988.

The fire was in one of the homes in the district which was purchased in 2015 by a developer for $9.5 million with plans to renovate the homes for private sale.
