4-year-old gets toilet seat stuck on his head

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. -- We've all been there. A day of kicks and giggles turn terrifying for 4-year-old Grady after he put a toilet seat over his head and it wouldn't come off.

Grady's father, Dan French, said the toilet seat was used for potty training and was smaller than a standard seat.

"He thought he'd make a helmet and put it over his head and we could not get it off," French explained.

He said a ridge on the inside of the seat would cut his son's ears when they tried to yank it off.

"I tried some cutters, but that didn't work so I ended up calling 911," French said.

In the end, everyone had a good laugh.

"The dispatcher at 911 got a pretty good laugh out of it. She could barely dispatch the fire department because she was laughing so hard," French said.

And his wife? She was out with some girlfriends at the time, and they had a good laugh too.

French says Grady is fine and healthy.

"This is the most terrified look I've seen on any of my children. Thank goodness for University Place Fire Department. They saved the day for sure."
