Puget Sound gets a break from the rain ... until the afternoon
SEATTLE -- We'll see some scattered showers at times that will work their way inland from the coast during the day Friday so the morning commute looks dry around Puget Sound. High temps will be a tad cooler than in the 55-60 degree range.
By Friday afternoon, the showers will likely move over Puget Sound.
It looks at this point like we get a bit of a break from the rain on Saturday around Puget Sound, but the coast will stay wet with on/off bands of rain.
Sunday looks like we'll see some rain at times and those showers extend into Monday.
Midweek, some of the forecast models are pointed towards a bit of a break from the rain. Tuesday and Wednesday could end up being totally dry for Puget Sound lowlands. Thursday, we'll likely see some showers return. Highs through the weekend will be pretty seasonal for the middle of October-- in the 55-60 range; overnight lows in the mid 40s.
It was a really soggy day for Western Washington Thursday, but impressive rainfall in Seattle wasn't record-breaking. The record on this date in Seattle history was 5.02 inches of rain set back in 2003. We're on track for one of the wettest months of October we've ever seen in many Northwest cities.
The National Weather Service in Seattle tweeted at about at about 4:30 p.m. Thursday that minor flooding was occurring on the Skokomish River in Mason County, the Snoqualmie River in King County and the Skykomish and Stillaguamish rivers in Snohomish counties. It added that flooding on other rivers in King, Snohomish and Skagit counties was possible.
On Thursday night, the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office said Mann Road in Sultan was closed for water over the roadway, and the Mountain Loop Highway at Reece's Hideout was closed for a washout, too.
But no major flooding was reported Thursday night.
In Bothell, police said tweeted that there was a lot of flooding causing issues on the roads there. It urged drivers to be cautious as it can be difficult to see standing water in the dark.
