Be Bold Be Bald, unique campaign to fight cancer

Be Bold Be Bald.  Powerful words behind a powerful message.

This Friday, October 20th, people across the country will wear a bald cap for 24 hours to raise money and awareness in the fight against cancer.

The Be Bold Be Bald movement was founded in 2009  by Jeff Freedman.  After losing a friend and colleague to cancer, Freedman launched the Be Bold Be Bald campaign.   To date the movement has gained national attention and raised more than $1 million dollars for cancer fighting charities.

One charity in the Pacific Northwest benefiting from the bald head movement is the Northwest Sarcoma Foundation.  The group provides hope, education and support to sarcoma patients and their families, and invests in research to improve cure rates for sarcomas.

Jason Sears is the Executive Director of NWSF and stopped by the Q13 studios to talk about the Be Bold Be Bald campaign.  His goal is to raise $5,000 and plans to shave his head in support of a local teen battling cancer.
