Man taking pictures of storm hurt after he falls out of tree



OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Olympia firefighters responded to "very odd" call Saturday night. A man in his 50s had fallen from a tree and got stuck while attempting to take pictures of the storm.

The Olympia Fire Department said the man was in such a precarious positions that rescuers had to use a rope system to free him.

The News Tribune reports that the man had climbed toward the top of a tree in the area of 18th Avenue Southeast and Amhurst Street Southeast about 7 p.m. and then fell about 30 feet. After the fall, the man got wedged in the tree.

The man suffered possible broken ribs and a punctured lung; Battalion Chief Pat Noonan told the paper.

Multiple fire units responded, including Lacey Fire District 3 and McLane-Black Lake Fire District 9
