1 killed, 1 injured when semi rolls over on northbound I-5 express lanes in Seattle

SEATTLE -- A 35-year-old  truck driver was killed when his rig rolled over on the northbound I-5 express lane near Mercer Street Thursday night and another person was injured when struck by flying debris, the Washington State Patrol and Seattle Fire Department said.

The WSP trooper said he could not tell initially if the rollover accident was related to the rainy weather.

The driver was not identified.

The northbound express lanes of I-5 were to be closed for the investigation and to test the stability of a structure that the truck driver apparently hit. The lanes remained closed around 5 a.m. It was unclear when they would reopen.

The Seattle Fire Department said another person was struck by flying debris from the collision and transported to Harborview Medical Center with minor injuries.
