Friday Huskies football game expected to jam evening commute

SEATTLE — Brace yourselves, Seattle drivers.

The Washington Huskies play the Stanford Cardinal at home on Friday night (instead of Saturday.) The 6 p.m. kickoff will be right in the heart of the evening commute, bringing 70,000 fans to the University District.

Plus the Seattle Mariners have their final series of the year at Safeco Field, first pitch around 7:10 p.m.

Here are some transit options:

  • Sound Transit is adding an extra seven Light Rail trains
  • Uber is offering trips for half price to and from the game if you punch in promo code HOMESAFEUW
  • King county Metro will reroute several Montlake bus routes
  • A free shuttle will operate from UW's Link station to NE Campus Parkway
  • Free bike valet is available just off the Burke-Gilman Trail
