Suspicious package forces evacuation of WSP District Headquarters in Parkland

TACOMA -- A suspicious package forced the evacuation of Washington State Patrol and other state facilities in Parkland.

According to Trooper T. Bartolac, the bomb squad was called to the scene of WSP District Headquarters around 9 a.m. Wednesday.

The WSP Crime Lab, Department of Transportation, and Department of Licensing were also evacuated from the State of Washington Combined Transportation Center building located at 2502 112th St E.

Troopers said the scene had been cleared and the office was back open just before 10 a.m.

Bartolac said the dispatch center has been moved to a safe location and communication officers are continuing to answer 911 calls.
