WA Secretary of State race:  Wyman vs. Podlodowski

SEATTLE - On the ballot, this November is a heated race for Washington Secretary of State.  The position serves as the state’s chief elections officer.

Republicans have occupied his office for more than 50 years and Democrats are trying to break that hold.

Incumbent Republican Kim Wyman was first elected in 2012.  Prior to that, she was the Thurston County Auditor, overseeing elections.  Democratic challenger Tina Podlodoswki is a former Microsoft Manager and served a term on the Seattle City Council.

During the August Primary, Wyman received 48% of the vote, and Podlodowski received 46%.

They both participated in a debate at Q13, where the topics included:  voter turnout, voter registration, postage-free ballots, and who would be the better impartial referee of elections.
