2 plead not guilty in fatal crash on Interstate 5 in Tacoma

TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — Two men in their 20s have pleaded not guilty to charges in connection with a fatal five-vehicle collision on Interstate 5 in Tacoma.

The News Tribune reports (https://goo.gl/4ccHlL ) Julio Gonzalez-Herrera, 23, and Spencer Marr, 24, pleaded not guilty to vehicular homicide Thursday.

They were released on their own recognizance.

Both are accused of driving while under the influence of alcohol and pot and causing a wreck April 9 that killed 25-year-old Dominic Bryant.

Charging papers say Bryant was a passenger in Marr's car, which crashed into an abandoned vehicle on the side of the freeway.

Marr's car then spun across the freeway lanes and the vehicle Gonzalez-Herrera was driving hit it. Other vehicles crashed as a result.

Bryant died from his injuries at Madigan Army Medical Center.
