Police arrest man accused of setting fire to home of his children's mother in Everett

EVERETT, Wash. -- Police on Tuesday arrested a man accused of setting fire to the home of his children's mother earlier that day in Everett.

According to Everett police, officers were called to the report of a disturbance early Tuesday morning to the home in the 1200 block of Poplar St. A woman inside told police that she and the father of her children have relationship issues. She said that he had previously threatened to kill her and, before the fire, told her "I'm doing it."

Just before 6 a.m., the front of the home was set on fire. Investigators at the time said they believed it had been intentionally set.

The woman suffered minor injuries and was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett.

Around 6:30 Tuesday evening, police took the father of her children into custody. He was booked into Snohomish County Jail for investigation of arson - domestic violence.
