Suspicious package discovered near SPD's East Precinct in Capitol Hill

Seattle police have confirmed that the suspicious package was not an explosive device. Roads have been reopened near the East Precinct.

SEATTLE -- Seattle police are investigating suspicious circumstances near the department's East Precinct on 12th Avenue and E Pine Street.

A backpack was discovered in front of the police station shortly before noon Sunday.

The Seattle Police Department tweeted that roads around the precinct may be closed periodically while authorities investigate the situation.
