Sounders forward Clint Dempsey back at practice after being sidelined for health concerns

SEATTLE -- Star Sounders FC forward Clint Dempsey returned to practice at Starfire Sports on Wednesday after undergoing medical evaluations for an irregular heartbeat.

Dempsey, 33, scored two goals in the team's 3-1 win against Portland on Aug. 21, before being sidelined. Few details of Dempsey's condition -- including its severity -- have been released.

General Manager Garth Lagerwey and coach Brian Schmetzer are expected to speak with the media about Dempsey after practice. At this point, it's unclear when Dempsey may officially return to the pitch.

Dempsey has played four seasons with the Sounders, coming from the English Premier League Tottenham Hotspur in 2013. The 33-year-old has 37 goals and 23 assists in his MLS career.

The Sounders face Cascadia rival Vancouver at home on Saturday. Coverage begins at 12:30 p.m. on JOEtv.
