Firefighter stands for 1 minute for every firefighter who died on 9/11

COLONA, Ill. — On the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, a firefighter in Illinois stood for one minute for every firefighter who lost their life that day. That's 5 hours and 43 minutes.

According to WQAD, Joe Parillo started at 8:59 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11, the moment when the first plane hit the towers.

A Moline photographer, Austin Drake, took photos and posted them on his Facebook page with the following:

Fireman Joe says he will be standing outside for an exact total of 343 minutes to commemorate the 343 brothers and sisters lost in the terrible event.

Joe has been a firefighter for 6 years now.

Please share this post to keep everyone aware how many lives were totally affected by the things that took place 15 years ago. Also, take the time to thank your local police officers, firefighters, EMTs and anyone else out there fighting the big fight some of us can't.

WE LOVE YOU. Never forget. 9/11.
