Coast Guard suspends search for woman swept out to sea near Long Beach

LONG BEACH, Wash. -- The Coast Guard and local emergency responders have suspended the search for a woman who was swept out into the ocean Wednesday night near Long Beach.

Authorities say the woman's boyfriend called 911 around 10:15 p.m. Wednesday to report her missing. The Coast Guard launched rescue crews in a MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter and a rescue boat. WSP also searched along the beach Thursday.

"We are on scene and searching and using every capability we have to come out with a happy outcome," said Lt. Adriana Gaenzle, command duty officer, Sector Columbia River Command Center. " Our thoughts are with family and friends of the missing woman."

The woman has not been identified.

Officials said the water temperature off Long Beach is about 60 degrees.
