Body of woman found on Tacoma's Sprague Avenue overpass identified

TACOMA -- The Pierce County Medical Examiner's Office on Wednesday identified the woman found dead Tuesday night on the Sprague Avenue overpass at State Route 16.

The office said that the victim, Suejon King-Briggs, 43,  of Lacey, died of a blunt force injury to her head and her manner of death was listed as a traffic accident.

It provided no other details, and the Tacoma Police Department had no comment on what their investigation showed.

A state trooper initially tweeted Tuesday night that it was a fatal hit-and-run, because there was no vehicle found near her body, but investigators later ruled out a hit-and-run and turned the woman's death investigation over to the Tacoma Police Department.

On Wednesday, King-Briggs' daughter, Jasmine, "We are all just at a complete loss, but we love her and she will be missed by many."

She said her mother was a grandmother, a former Army Reserve member and a former paralegal.

Sprague Avenue was closed in both directions as investigators examined the body and the roadway.

No other details were immediately available.
