Police: Intoxicated driver plowed into Bellevue church, no injuries reported

BELLEVUE -- A congregation will need to rebuild its sanctuary after an allegedly intoxicated man drove through the front doors of a church early Sunday morning in Bellevue.

According to the Bellevue Police Department, no one was hurt when the 32-year-old man plowed into the New Hope Church in the 15700 block of NE 4th Street in East Bellevue.

The driver was arrested for suspicion of hit-and-run and DUI.

The  church's pastor told Q13 News the crash happened before services, so the church was empty. Services were canceled, and he said it's likely they will cancel mid-week services, too.

The identity of the driver was not immediately released.
