19-year-old charged with killing Seattle man over theft of credit-card making machine

SEATTLE (AP) — A 19-year-old man has been charged with murder in connection with a Seattle shooting over the apparent theft of a machine used to make counterfeit credit cards.

The Seattle Times reports (http://goo.gl/ArdVNa ) Kenny Kim-Phannary Am was charged Tuesday with second-degree murder. Am's bail was set at $2 million although he's being held without bail on a warrant for a 2015 case in which he allegedly stole a car and eluded police.

Charging documents say Am fired six shots at Patrick Khamphouvong on July 24, killing the 31-year-old.

Documents say Am told detectives he shot Khamphouvong, who Am believed owed him money.

Police say Am told them Khamphouvong had stolen the embossing machine used to create counterfeit credit cards from him and that he was angry.
