Loyd scores 20 points but Storm lose to Lynx, 92-80

 

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Lindsay Whalen scored a season-high 24 points, Sylvia Fowles added 11 points and 11 rebounds, and the Minnesota Lynx beat the Seattle Storm 92-80 on Sunday night.

Seimone Augustus had 18 points, Maya Moore 13 and Jia Perkins 10 for the defending champion Lynx (22-5).

Minnesota trailed 47-41 at halftime, but tied it with a 12-6 run to open the third and pulled away with an 11-2 run to close the quarter up 73-65.

Jewell Loyd had 20 points for the Storm (10-16). Ramu Tokashiki added 13 points, Crystal Langhorne and Sue Bird had 11 each, and Breanna Stewart 10.

The Storm led as late as 63-62 with 2:08 left in the third quarter, but got no closer than eight in the fourth while the Lynx built their largest lead at 88-73.
