Police: Man who drowned at Wild Waves may have been underwater for up to 15 minutes

SEATTLE -- Public health officials have launched an investigation into a water park in Washington state after a man drowned there over the weekend.

Our news partner The Seattle Times reports that Wild Waves Theme Park lifeguards pulled 32-year-old Vijayarengan Srinivasan out of one of the activity pools Saturday, but lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful.

Seattle and King County officials say they are investigating the park "as per standard protocol" to determine whether everything is properly functioning and well-maintained. Two inspectors were at the park Tuesday.

Police say Srinivasan was originally from India and had moved to Washington about two weeks ago. He had a wife and 3-year-old child.

According to a police report released this week:

Washington State Labor & Industries cited Wild Waves last year after two workers hurt their hands and arms in a ride.

Park officials said in an email Monday that they are cooperating with investigations into the man's death.
