Brush fire along I-5 near JBLM main gate slows traffic



JOINT BASE LEWIS MCCHORD, Wash. -- A brush fire sparked Wednesday afternoon along Interstate 5 near the main gate to Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

According to the Washington State Department of Transportation, the right lane of northbound I-5 was blocked as of 1:20 p.m. Southbound traffic was also experiencing slowdowns.

Photos from the scene showed light smoke billowing from the trees just off of the freeway.



As of 1:45 p.m., the Q13 FOX app showed delays of 37 minutes and increasing for northbound traffic between Exit 114 Brown Farm Rd and Exit 122 Berkeley St. with an average speed of ten mph.
