Woman dies in river rafting accident on Idaho river

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Utah woman river rafting with a Mormon church group in Idaho has died.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints confirmed the death Saturday of 54-year-old Pamela Solomon, of West Jordan.

Church spokesman Eric Hawkins says Solomon was with a youth conference group on a rafting trip Thursday on the Snake River when she fell from the raft.

Officials say she had a life jacket and was quickly pulled from the water.

According to a statement from Hawkins, Solomon had swallowed a significant amount of water.

She was taken to a hospital in Jackson, Wyoming where she died a short time later.

Her son, Travis Jacobson, tells KUTV that she had a history of poor health issues including a struggle with Sarcoidosis, a rare autoimmune disease.
