Overnight construction closing lanes on I-5 in Tacoma

TACOMA - Drivers should prepare for overnight closures on I-5 through Tacoma this week.

The Washington State Department of Transportation will close several lanes for HOV construction on Tuesday and Wednesday.

WSDOT says drivers will encounter the southbound closures from Port of Tacoma Road to L Street from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

There could also be weeknight closures in both directions of I-5 between M Street and Port of Tacoma Road.

Closures for Interstate 705/Pacific Avenue on-ramps to southbound I-5 • Monday through Wednesday, Aug. 15-17 – 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. each following day. • Thursday, Aug. 18 – 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day • Friday, Aug, 19 – 11:59 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following day

Additional ramp closures • 10 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15 to 4 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16 – Eastbound 27th Street on-ramp to southbound I-5 will close. • 12:01 a.m. to 4 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17 – Northbound I-5 exit to Portland Avenue will close.
