Small fire quickly put out at marijuana growhouse in Seattle

SEATTLE -- A small fire filled the inside of a pot grow facility with smoke early Friday morning, according to the Seattle Fire Department. Crews responded to the South Seattle warehouse and found the fire in a back room.

“Anytime we enter a commercial structure especially a warehouse that has a lot of different compartments and there is no visibility it is always an extremely hazardous situation,” Battalion Chief Benjamin Haskell told Q13 News.

Firefighters quickly put out the flames and contained the damage to a small area. Battalion Chief Haskell said the grow operation inside the warehouse did not impact their response.

“Fire smoke is hazardous. It is lethal regardless of its origin. The fact that this is a grow operation doesn’t add any lethality to that smoke,” said Haskell.

The exact cause of the fire is under investigation.
