For second day in row, a motorcyclist killed on local highways

EVERETT, Wash. -- A motorcyclist described as a man in his 20s was killed in a crash Friday on State Route 526 just east of Evergreen Way, Everett police said.

Sgt. Maryjane Hacker said the motorcycle and a car were both traveling eastbound on SR 526 when the crash occurred; the circumstances of the collision were under investigation. It's too early to tell if drugs or alcohol were a factor, she said.

She said the driver of the car -- also a man in his 20s -- was unhurt and stayed on scene. He was being cooperative, Hacker said.

The collision forced the temporary closure of all eastbound lanes of SR 526.

On Thursday, a motorcyclist died after a collision with a box truck on Highway 16  in Tacoma. The accident happened just after 5 p.m. in the eastbound lanes near the Union Avenue exit.

The News Tribune said that the motorcyclist in that case had just been cited  by the State Patrol a few minutes before the crash for speeding (driving 81 mph in a 60 mph zone).

The Washington State Patrol also tweeted that there had been been a fatal motorcycle collision Friday in Skamania County, in southwestern Washington.
