Motorcyclist killed in crash on Highway 16 in Tacoma, reportedly just after being cited for speeding
TACOMA -- A motorcycle rider died after a collision with a truck on Highway 16 on Thursday afternoon, Washington State Patrol troopers said.
The accident happened just after 5 p.m. in the eastbound lanes near the Union Avenue exit.
The eastbound lanes were completely blocked while the crash was being investigated. All lanes reopened at about 6:45 p.m.
Troopers said the motorcycle collided with a box truck.
The News Tribune said the motorcyclist had just been cited fewer than 5 minutes beforehand for driving 81 mph in a 60 mph zone.
