Shooting suspect taken into custody after 6-hour standoff in Everett

EVERETT, Wash. -- A six-hour long standoff ended with a shooting suspect surrendering to deputies Tuesday morning, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were called to the report of a shooting around 6 p.m. Monday in the 1400 block of Center Road.

Deputies said one man had been shot in the leg and was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. A second person suffered a head injury.

The shooting suspect, a 24-year-old man, fled the scene before deputies arrived.

Investigators tracked the suspect to a home in the 11000 block of Meridian Ave. shortly after midnight. The suspect was barricaded inside the home with several others, including two children.

Deputies called the SWAT team to the scene. After six hours, officials said everyone left the home leaving only the suspect inside. He turned himself in shortly after the children left the home.

The suspect, who has not been identified, was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for multiple felony crimes.
