Man falls to his death in downtown Seattle elevator shaft

SEATTLE -- Several agencies are looking for answers after a man died from a fall down an elevator shaft while on the job in Seattle.

Seattle Fire responded to 5th Avenue just after 7:30 a.m Sunday morning.

Firefighters found a man in his 40's had fallen at least 30 feet.



After a complicated rescue operation, medics rushed the man to Harborview Medical Center, where he later died.

Officers at the scene confirmed to Q13 News that the victim was an employee at the car rental business.

Seattle Police homicide detectives are working alongside the Department of Labor and Industries and OSHA to determine the circumstances surrounding the man's fall.
