$25 million Mega Millions lottery jackpot claimed; ticket bought in White Center

SEATTLE (AP) — The Washington State Lottery says a Seattle man has won a $25 million Mega Millions jackpot.

Lottery officials said Monday the man came forward last Wednesday as the winner at the state lottery headquarters in Olympia.

The jackpot had remained unclaimed for one day. The winner purchased the ticket at the White Center Quick Stop Food Mart and chose the one-time cash payment option of approximately $16 million. Lottery officials didn't identify the winner.

This is the second Mega Millions jackpot winner this year and the state's fifth overall. The most recent Washington winner won $157 million in March.

The jackpot has been reset at $15 million.

Proceeds from Washington's Lottery benefit the Washington Opportunity Pathways Account, which gives grants to college students statewide.
