John Schneider reportedly agrees to extension with Seahawks

SEATTLE - General manager John Schneider has agreed to a contract extension with the Seattle Seahawks, ESPN reported  Sunday evening.

John Clayton reported that Schneider agreed to a deal that will make him among the highest-paid GM's in the league.

Schneider, who was entering the final season of his contract, will make somewhere in the ballpark of the $3.75 million a year earned by Baltimore's Ozzie Newsome, who is the highest paid GM in the league. There's no word on the length of the new deal.

Schneider, 45, came to the Seahawks in 2010 and has overseen one of the most successful franchises in the NFL in the years since, reaching two Super Bowls and winning one. Two weeks ago, an ESPN analysis concluded the Seahawks have the best long-term future in the league.

Coach Pete Carroll is also entering the final year of his contract, but Clayton reported that he'll likely come to terms with the team as well.
