EPHRATA, Wash. (AP) — An 8-year-old girl was killed and five people were injured in Ephrata after a suspect in a vehicle-prowl case fled the scene, ran a stop sign and slammed into a pick-up.

The Grant County Sheriff's Office says the driver, Neil McLeod, was charged with DUI, vehicular homicide and vehicular assault.

Ephrata police were called Wednesday evening for a possible vehicle prowl. Before they arrived, a Dodge Durango with three people inside sped away. The Durango ran a stop sign and hit a Chevrolet pickup. The Durango rolled and hit a power pole. The pickup crashed into the garage, trapping the occupants inside.

Eight-year-old Audrey Grubb later died at the hospital and two others in the pickup were injured. The three in the Durango suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
