Correa, Springer lead Astros past Mariners 7-3

Houston Astros v Seattle Mariners

SEATTLE (AP) — Carlos Correa had a two-out, two-run double then scored from second base on a wild pitch during Houston's five-run fifth inning, and the Astros opened the second half with a 7-3 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Friday night.

Correa and his teammates picked up where they left off before the All-Star break, winning for the sixth time in eight games and their fifth straight over the Mariners.

Correa's two-out double off Seattle starter James Paxton (2-4) gave the Astros a 5-0 lead and he scampered home from second moments later when Paxton's third wild pitch of the inning ricocheted off catcher Chris Iannetta over to the third base dugout. George Springer scored earlier in the inning on a wild pitch.

Springer led off the game with his 20th home run of the season and Marwin Gonzalez added a solo shot in the seventh inning.
