Bremerton considers expanding city hall for $2 million

BREMERTON, Wash. (AP) — Bremerton Mayor Patty Lent wants to expand city hall's presence in the multi-use government office space it leases downtown.

The Kitsap Sun reports that under a plan unveiled last week, the city is prepared to pay Housing Kitsap, the city's housing authority, $2 million to take over its office space in the Norm Dicks Government Center.

The change would move some city offices, including utility billing, into the centralized government center and allow Housing Kitsap to find a more accessible location.

No formal paperwork has been signed but both Bremerton Mayor Patty Lent and Housing Kitsap Executive Director Stuart Grogan confirmed the deal is moving forward.

Officials say moving the utility offices could add at most 14 cents to utility customers' bimonthly bills in 2017 to cover expenses.
