Police: Man found dead inside stolen car in SeaTac with apparent gunshot wound

SEATAC, Wash. -- Police found a man dead inside a stolen parked car in a quiet SeaTac neighborhood Wednesday morning.

Steve Minnis says he was the first to notice the green Honda with the body inside.

“The sunroof was open and it was raining and so it was suspicious,” Minnis said.

Minnis says a door was also ajar but with dark tinted windows he couldn`t see inside the car.

“If you can’t see, you don`t want to open it,” Minnis said.

Minnis, who lives and works at Angle Lake Court senior housing, said he told his manager about the unfamiliar vehicle.

“I have that instinct, something not right, I know all the cars here,” Minnis said.

But even before they could call, a SeaTac police officer running license plates in the area spotted the Honda.

“It’s not uncommon for deputies to run plates -- that`s where the bad guys dump cars,” King County sheriff’s Sgt. Cindi West said.

The Honda came up stolen and, when detectives looked inside, they found the body in the driver`s seat slumped over to the passenger side.

“The man appears to have one gunshot wound; obviously, we are investigating this is as a suspicious death,” West said.

Neighbors say they didn`t hear any gunshots.

“It’s absolutely shocking, you know, to think it could happen here,” Angle Lake Neighborhood Church Pastor John Kilough said.

People in the neighborhood say they are use to petty crime but not a mysterious murder next door.

“I am sure it gives them a sense of uneasiness,” Kilough said.

Detectives say the car was stolen from Seattle last week.

They plan to contact the owner of the vehicle to get more information.
