Video shows skydiver lose his parachute after terrifying malfunction

OKLAHOMA CITY — A professional skydiver's helmet camera captured the terrifying moment the parachute was ripped from his hands after it malfunctioned.

It was the eighth time in his seven years of jumping that Daniel Herndon has had to trust his life to to the reserve parachute, the last resort.

The jump was organized to entertain fans watching the Energy soccer team play Tuesday at Taft Stadium, in Oklahoma City.

"As soon as I left the plane everything was going good," Herndon told KOCO.  Then, he pulled the cord to release his parachute:

Herndon says he is offering a $100 reward for anyone who finds his main parachute and free bag, which he thinks may have landed somewhere near Will Rogers Park.
